ICC Player of the Month March 2023
Bangladesh star in Cricket Shakib Al Hasan has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award in March 2023 for the second time now. He won his first ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award in July 2021.
On the other hand, Henriette Ishimwe of Rwandan has also marked her name as ICC Women’s Player of the Month. The International Cricket Council declared the names of the Winners on Wednesday.
Both the all-rounders have received maximum votes in the committee conducted among the specialists of the Panel. The members of this Panel included former International Players, ICC Hall of Famers, a few media representatives, and some Global Cricket fans who are registered at ICC-cricket.com. They were voting from the time the names of nominees were declared.
Shakib has performed extremely well at the summit of the ICC Men’s T20I Player and secured a good ranking in the list of all-rounders. His outstanding performance was also seen during the series with Ireland. The player was successful in getting a win 3-0 T20I series over World Champions England.
Henriette Ishimwe started this year with her amazing performance in the team of Rwandan. Her inaugural was in ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa with the team. During her match, she took 4 wickets in 4 balls against Zimbabwe, which was the most interesting part of the game.
Ishimwe marked her presence during the match in NCF (Nigeria Cricket Federation) Women’s T20I Tournament which was held in March 2023. During the match, she scored 92 runs and took 8 wickets which resulted in another hat trick for her. She has given her best shot in the match and became the 2nd female Associate Member to win the ICC Player of the Month Award.
March 2023 has witnessed excellent Cricket Players and astonishing performances in the match from these two top performers. Shakib Al Hasan made two half-centuries against England. During the T20I series, the player navigated his team’s win against England with 3-0 on the scoreboard.
Apart from key wickets in the three matches, his team has also expelled their performance on the ground with excellent fielding and bowling techniques.
Shakib states after the match that his favorite part in the previous month’s match series was sweeping against the strong team of England. He believes that his team has equally performed very well and that has helped him to focus on his part of the role and contribute to the win. He was also proud of overcoming his fellow nominees Kane Williamson from New Zealand and Asif Khan from UAE during the Global Vote.
When Farveez Maharoof, the former player of Sri Lanka International was interviewed, he stated that all three candidates on the nominee list are excellent players. However, Shakib Al Hasan is a deserving player and he stands out for his performance.
Shakib was extremely happy to announce that he owes this award to the ones who have helped him achieve his dream and join the Cricket journey. He greets and thanks his coaches and teammates for contributing to his growth. Finally, he thanked his friends and family for supporting him during his journey.
Similarly, Ishimwe won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award beating Ravini Oa and Sibon Jimmy who was from PNG. The list of nominees was made based on the field performance in Pacific Island Women’s Cricket Challenge.
Ashwell Prince who is a former South Africa International & ICC Player has stated that Ishimwe is a deserving candidate and her performance statistics show that she is a talented player in the women’s game future.
