NTPC and NPCIL Sign An Agreement for Joint Development of Nuclear Power Plants

On May 1, India made further strides towards clean energy sources as the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) signed a supplementary joint venture agreement with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). 

The agreement aims to develop nuclear power projects in the country, with a focus on two pressurised heavy-water reactor (PHWR) projects: the Chutka Madhya Pradesh Atomic Power Project (2×700 MW) and the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4×700 MW). These projects were identified as part of fleet mode nuclear projects. India To Join International Climate Action In Civil Aviation From 2027

New GST Regulations 2023 for Businesses with Turnover of Over ₹100 Crore

From May 1, 2023, businesses in India with an annual turnover of Rs 100 crore or more will be required to follow a new GST regulation. Under this rule, electronic invoices must be uploaded on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) within seven days of issuance. MoA&FW and NAFED launch Millets Experience Centre (MEC)

The inauguration of the ‘Millets Experience Centre (MEC),’ a unique initiative, took place today at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi, and was commemorated by the Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, and Shri Rajbir Singh, Managing Director of NAFED. The Millets Experience Centre was established by NAFED in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) to promote millets and raise public awareness about their benefits.

The launch of the ‘Millets Experience Centre (MEC)’ at Dilli Haat in New Delhi was commemorated by Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Shri Rajbir Singh, Managing Director, NAFED. NAFED collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) to establish the Millets Experience Centre. The aim of the Centre is to promote awareness and encourage the adoption of Millets among the general public.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023) after India’s proposal, supported by 72 countries. The Government of India has been working on ‘mission mode’ to promote millets as a crop that is beneficial to farmers, the environment, and consumers.

The establishment of the consumer-oriented Millets Experience Centre is a ministry-led initiative that not only promotes the dietary benefits of the ancient grain but also popularizes millets or Shree Anna as a nutritional powerhouse suitable for cooking a variety of dishes, such as Millets dosa, Millets pasta, etc. Customers can also purchase a variety of ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products from local millet start-ups at the MEC, which provides a unique dining experience.

More than 15,000 people joined the ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ in Jaipur

More than 15,000 yoga enthusiasts, along with dignitaries, gathered at Shri Bhawani Niketan Shiksha Samiti to perform Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) and celebrate the Yoga Mahotsav. The event was held to mark 50 days until the International Day of Yoga in 2023.

The participants performed CYP in unison, creating an awe-inspiring atmosphere. The event was attended by several dignitaries including the Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalraj Mishra, and Union Ministers, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shri Kailash Choudhary, and Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai. MPs such as Shri Subhash Chandra Baheria, Shri Ramcharan Bohra, Dr Manoj Rajoria, Shri Hanuman Beniwal, Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, and Km. also graced the occasion.

PARTICIPATION OF INDIAN AIR FORCE IN EXERCISE INIOCHOS-23

From 24 April to 4 May 2023, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to join Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multinational air exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force. The exercise will take place at the Andravida Air Base in Greece, with four Su-30 MKI and two C-17 aircraft from the IAF participating.

The primary objective of this exercise is to boost international cooperation and interoperability amongst the participating Air Forces. During the exercise, the contingents will engage in a realistic combat scenario that involves multiple types of air and surface assets. Furthermore, it will provide an opportunity for the participating Air Forces to interact professionally and gain valuable insights into each other’s best practices.
