To commemorate the 24th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War (Kargil Vijay Diwas) and celebrate the strength of women, the Indian Army organized a special event called the ‘Nari Sashaktikaran Women Motorcycle Rally.’ The rally, consisting of all-women participants, started at the National War Memorial in Delhi and will conclude at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh.
The Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, flagged off the rally at the National War Memorial in the presence of Mrs. Archana Pande, Chairperson of the Army Wives Welfare Association, as well as other military and civilian dignitaries, including representatives from TVS Motor Company and other sponsors.
The rally received enthusiastic support from a large crowd gathered at the venue. It aims to honor the bravery and determination of women while commemorating India’s victory in the Kargil War. The event also recognizes the important role played by women in the armed forces.
The women’s motorcycle rally serves as an inspiration for women across the country, emphasizing their empowerment and highlighting the importance of gender equality. It showcases the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army and pays tribute to the courageous soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War.

A strong team of 25 members, representing the three services of the Indian Armed Forces, has come together for the ‘Nari Sashaktikaran Women Motorcycle Rally.’
- The team includes two Veer Naris (war widows), serving officers, women officers from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, women soldiers, and spouses of armed forces personnel.
- The rally aims to celebrate the victorious spirit of the Indian Armed Forces in the Kargil War and pay tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
- Covering a distance of approximately 1000 kilometers, the team will travel through Haryana, Punjab, and the challenging high mountain passes of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh, ultimately reaching the Kargil War Memorial in Dras on 25th July 2023.
- During the rally, the team will engage with NCC Cadets, students from schools and colleges, veterans, and Veer Naris, fostering interactions and spreading awareness about the remarkable contribution of women in the armed forces.
- The Indian Army has partnered with TVS Motor Company for this event, and the participants will be riding on TVS Ronin motorcycles.
General Manoj Pande, Chief of Army Staff, commended the entire team for embarking on this challenging journey, which exemplifies qualities such as determination, Nari Shakti (women empowerment), and the crucial role played by women in nation-building.
