The much-anticipated seventh edition of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX 23) is scheduled to take place from July 5th to July 10th, 2023, in Visakhapatnam, India. Celebrating its 11th anniversary since its inception in 2012, this exercise aims to strengthen the interoperability and cooperation between the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) and the Indian Navy.
Phase 1: Harbour Phase – Fostering Bonds:

Participation from Diverse Fleet:
JIMEX 23 will witness active participation from various Indian naval vessels, including the domestically constructed Guided Missile Destroyer, INS Delhi, which holds the distinction of being India’s first indigenously built destroyer. Additionally, the Corvette INS Kamorta, designed and constructed in India for Anti-Submarine Warfare purposes, and the fleet tanker INS Shakti, along with a submarine, maritime patrol aircraft P8I and Dornier, ship-borne helicopters, and fighter aircraft, will actively contribute to the exercise. Representing the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) will be the guided missile destroyer JS Samidare and accompanying helicopters.
