- The app aims to contribute to the effective monitoring and control of fish diseases by enabling users to report and identify diseases in aquatic animals.
- This initiative is an important step towards leveraging technology for the betterment of the fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying sectors in India.
Background
- The Department of Fisheries has allocated a budget of ₹33.78 crore for a three-year period to implement the second phase of the National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) scheme.

- The app serves as an early warning system, providing timely alerts and scientific advice to farmers.
- This proactive approach helps farmers reduce losses caused by diseases and strengthens disease reporting across the country.
- By facilitating direct communication between farmers and experts, the app empowers farmers to take necessary actions to manage and mitigate the impact of diseases on their farms.
- The availability of scientific and technical assistance through the app ensures that farmers receive accurate guidance and support in addressing disease outbreaks.
- This not only improves disease management practices but also enhances the overall health and productivity of fish farms.
- By promoting efficient disease reporting and providing expert advice, the app contributes to the sustainable development of the fisheries sector and the well-being of fish farmers in India.
