Namdev Shirgaonkar, hailing from Maharashtra, has been re-elected as the President of India Taekwondo. The elections for the executive committee took place, and Shirgaonkar was elected unopposed. He is not only a Taekwondo practitioner with a black belt but also serves as the secretary-general of the Maharashtra Olympic Association (MOA). Shirgaonkar expressed his satisfaction at being chosen as the chief of India Taekwondo without any opposition.

The smooth conduct of the elections was facilitated by Kiarash Bahri, who is the Coordinator of World Taekwondo, as well as an observer from the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) named Wanyong Lee. Additionally, Prashant Desai, representing the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), played a crucial role as an observer during the elections.

India will participate in the upcoming Senior World Taekwondo Championship 2023, scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from May 25 to June 5.
