CBSE Ready To Introduce AI And Coding From Classes 6 To 8
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has agreed to add coding and artificial intelligence (AI) into the syllabus for Classes 6 to 8 as part of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This decision recognizes the importance of mathematics and computational thinking in preparing students for future careers in AI, machine learning, and data science.
Early education will include the introduction of AI, coding, financial literacy, and data science, according to the NEP 2020. CBSE has picked 33 disciplines, including AI, to help pupils build their skills. Class 6 kids will learn about proper drug storage, while Class 8 students will learn about data science. Three Imprisoned Iranian female journalists win top UN Prize

Luca Brecel, 28, of Belgium, won his first world title after defeating Mark Selby in a dramatic final at the Crucible in Sheffield. The match was hotly contested, with Selby producing a strong comeback to test Brecel. Despite the pressure, Brecel remained calm and won with an 18-15 victory.
Brecel’s journey to the world championship was filled with difficulties. During the competition’s quarter-finals, he faced several elite players, including Ronnie O’Sullivan. Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan Takes Over As 17th Commander-In-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command
Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan AVSM, VM has become the new Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN). National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign- 2023
On May 3, 2023, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign 2023-24 at NASC Complex, New Delhi. During his address at the conference, he stressed that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy and plays a vital role in the country’s socio-economic development. It accounts for approximately 19% of the GDP and supports two-thirds of the population.
Shri Tomar expressed his happiness that India’s agriculture sector has been experiencing robust growth, with an average annual growth rate of 4.6% over the last six years. This growth has enabled the agriculture and allied activities sector to contribute significantly to the overall growth, development, and food security of the country. According to the 2nd Advance Estimates (2022-23), food grain production in India is expected to be 3235 lakh tonnes, which is 79 lakh tonnes higher than the production of food grains in 2021-22.
Rice, maize, gram, pulses, rapeseed and mustard, oilseeds, and sugarcane are all estimated to achieve record production. Sugarcane production in the country is projected to reach a record 4688 lakh tonnes, which is 1553 lakh tonnes higher than the average sugarcane production. According to the 3rd Advance Estimates of Horticulture, a record 3423.3 lakh tonnes of horticultural production are estimated in 2021-22, which is 77.30 lakh tonnes higher than the production of 2020-21.
VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF THE 35TH NAVAL HIGHER COMMAND COURSE (NHCC)
On May 3, 2023, the 35th Naval Higher Command Course (NHCC) concluded with its Valedictory Function at the Naval War College (NWC) in Goa. The NHCC is a prestigious course attended by Captains of the Indian Navy and equivalent ranks from the Army, Airforce and Coast Guard. The 34 officers who completed the course, including 25 officers of the Indian Navy, four officers each from the Indian Army & Indian Airforce, and one Coast Guard officer, had commenced the course on August 1, 2022.
The course aims to prepare officers for leadership at strategic and operational levels, focusing on national security, maritime strategy, joint operations, and technology transformations. During the course, the participating officers undertook research on subjects of strategic and operational importance to the nation and the Armed Forces.
Shri Sreedharan Pillai, the Hon’ble Governor of Goa, was the Chief Guest for the function, and Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, also graced the occasion. All course participants were awarded degree certificates on Defence and Strategic Studies. Additionally, awards were presented to various officers, such as the Chief of Naval Staff Gold Medal for the Best Dissertation awarded to Capt Rajeev Tiwari, and the newly instituted General Bipin Rawat Trophy for the Most Spirited Officer, awarded to Capt Suraj James Rabeira.
Manipur University to host the Y20 Seminar on May 4, 2023, on “Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance”
On May 4, 2023, Manipur University will be hosting the Y20 Seminar with the theme “Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance,” which is one of the five themes of the Y20 India Summit. The seminar aims to engage the youth and make the G20 summit more inclusive by reaching out to all 16 districts of Manipur.
There will be a total of 550 participants, including 26 foreign panellists and delegates, 38 delegates and panellists from outside Manipur, and 69 within Manipur. Additionally, around 70 students from colleges affiliated with Manipur University will be participating.
According to Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, despite being a small state, Manipur has made significant contributions to sports and culture. The youth have been excelling in all aspects of their activities. He mentioned that the Government of India has entrusted this assignment to the University due to the notable achievements of its students.
The Vice-Chancellor also noted that India’s youth and student population has experienced significant growth in quantity and quality in the last two decades, making it a young country with a powerful youth force that advocates for youth-centric policies.

REC Limited has listed its recently issued Green bonds, which raised USD 750 million under its Global Medium Term Programme of USD 7 billion, in a primary listing ceremony held at GIFT IFSC Stock Exchanges in Gandhinagar. This exclusive listing was attended by Mr. Injeti Srinivas, Chairman of International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), as the Chief Guest, along with other senior officials of India INX and NSE IFSC, as well as Mr. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), REC, and Mr. Ajoy Choudhury, Director (Finance), REC.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dewangan stated that REC had consciously decided on this exclusive listing, which reinforces its status as one of the most frequent issuers in the international capital markets and is poised to contribute to India meeting its Amrit Kaal commitments towards climate action plan and energy transition with a focus on green projects.
