The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has received approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for the appointment of IPS officers in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). These appointments aim to enhance the strength and capabilities of the agency. Let’s delve into the details of the newly appointed officers.
Ajay Bhatnagar Takes Charge as Special Director
Ajay Bhatnagar, an IPS officer of the 1989 batch from the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Currently serving as the Additional Director in the Central Government investigating agency, Bhatnagar brings extensive experience to his new role. As per the DoPT order, he will hold the position until his superannuation on November 20, 2024.
Other Noteworthy Appointments
Anurag, a 1994-batch IPS officer from the Tripura cadre, has been appointed as the Additional Director of the CBI. Currently serving as a Joint Director in the agency, Anurag’s appointment is valid until July 24, 2023, which marks the completion of his seven-year tenure or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Manoj Sashidhar, a 1994-batch IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre, has also been appointed as an Additional Director in the CBI. Currently serving as a Joint Director in the agency, Sashidhar’s appointment is effective for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.
Extension of Sharad Agarwal’s Tenure
Sharad Agarwal, presently working as a Joint Director in the CBI, has been granted a one-year extension to his tenure. Agarwal’s services as Joint Director will now continue from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024. This extension acknowledges Agarwal’s valuable contributions and expertise within the agency.
These appointments and tenure extensions aim to strengthen the leadership and operational capabilities of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The selected IPS officers bring significant experience and expertise, further enhancing the agency’s ability to maintain law and order and effectively combat crime.
