Sberbank, Russia’s largest lender, has launched its own generative artificial intelligence tool, GigaChat, to compete with Microsoft-backed ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Its multimodal neural network technology is now in an invite-only testing phase.
The model, according to the company’s release on Monday, can answer customers’ questions, hold conversations, develop software programme codes, and generate words and graphics based on the same context. GigaChat also offers multimodal interaction and is better trained in Russian, according to the business.
Herman Gref, Sberbank’s president and chairman of the board, remarked that GigaChat is a milestone for the entire universe of Russian technology because of its open architecture, whereas other AI models follow a closed philosophy.
Furthermore, GigaChat can be employed not only by mass users but also by students and scholars for research papers.
What Is GigaChat?
The NeONKA (Neural Omnimodal Network with Knowledge-Awareness) neural network ensemble model is used by Sberbank’s GigaChat, and it consists of numerous neural network models, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning with human feedback.
GigaChat can support a discussion, write texts, answer fact-based inquiries, and create graphics, among other things. Sber added the Kandinsky 2.1 model to the ensemble to improve its capabilities.
To boost the open-source community and AI development, Sberbank plans to offer NeONKA 3.5 with 13 billion parameters. The model was trained on the Christofari Neo supercomputer and optimised for heavy load systems.
With the help of AIRI and AI experts, SberDevices and Sber AI are now training GigaChat in certain knowledge domains and fine-tuning its performance. Many Sber products and services, including the virtual assistant Salute, will incorporate the new model.
What Is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a chatbot that uses AI technology to provide human-like chats as well as a variety of other capabilities. In addition to answering questions, this natural language processing technology may assist users with tasks such as writing essays, producing emails, and coding.
ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, an AI and research organisation, and it was published on November 30, 2022. In addition to ChatGPT, OpenAI has developed other important AI applications such as DALL-E-2, an AI art creator, and Whisper, an automatic speech recognition system.
