CAIT and Meta Collaborate to Empower Indian Traders with Digital Upskilling

As part of CAIT’s digital skilling mission, 25,000 traders will gain access to the Meta Small Business Academy. - Integrated Fee Deduction Mechanism and Penalties: To streamline welfare fee deduction, the bill proposes an integrated mechanism within aggregator apps. Non-compliance will lead to penalties, starting with ₹5 lakh for the first offense and ₹50 lakh for subsequent offenses.
- Empowering Gig Workers: Gig workers will receive a standardized unique ID across platforms, granting them access to various social security programs. They will have effective grievance redressal and representation on the welfare board, giving them a say in decision-making processes concerning their well-being.
The bill acknowledges the significant role gig workers play in India’s economy, with projections of a large gig workforce by 2030. It aligns with the Code of Social Security (2020) by mandating social security benefits from employers for gig workers.
